7th Route 66 Film Festival 2008

The 7th Annual Route 66 Film Festival was held at the Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield, Illinois on September 20-21, 2008. Twenty-eight filmmakers attended with several cast and crew members as well. Winners of Audience Favorite Comedy were Mark and Heath Menscher for "He's My Dad". Winners for Audience Favorite Drama were Zhou "Joe" Fang and H. Scott Hughes for "Crazy Old Woman," and winners for Audience Debut Film were Emily W. and Erik Chubb for "The Purrfect Girl".

Thirteen award winners chosen by the committee were Best Documentary, "Stars and Their Guitars" by Kent Hagen; Best Film Noir, "Yesterday Was a Lie" by James Kerwin and Chase Masterson; Best Comedy Feature "The Art of Pain" by Matt Brookens; Best Debut Feature, "Left/Right" by Matthew and Todd Wolfe; Best Experimental Film, "Magritte Moment" by Ian Fischer; Best Suspense Film, "The Last Round" by Dan and Joe Masucci; Best Foreign Feature, "Minotauro" by Alejandro Cano; Best Animation, "24 Frames" by Brad Pattullo; Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Award, "The Transient" by Chris Lukeman; Best Historical Film, "Berlin" by Norm Sanders; Best Foreign Short, "Boot Polish" by Aneel Ahmad; Best Drama Short, "The Vaudevillian" by Bryan Nest; and Best Comedy Short, "First Bass" by Jonah Ansell and Phil Hodges.
